The Box House works are based upon models, which I constructed out of cardboard boxes. They are based in part upon little sketches I made before hand. The influences on those models are many but the primary ones are the ruins I have seen in Rome on the Paletine Hill, or those in Ostia Antica; the inventive and practical structures I have seen in NY and elsewhere build by the homeless; and the structures which children so enjoy as their special places; and the boxes built to shelter and to feed animals in need.
